Pomeranians are one of the most friendly and hardy breeds of dogs around and they appeal to a wide variety of people. From the blue-haired old lady to the vigorous society matron to the hunting enthusiast and family man, Pomeranians fit into almost anyone’s lifestyle.

A member of the spitz group of dogs, Poms were originally bred to be working animals and they earned their keep admirably. Though now the Pomeranian breed is thought of a small dog, originally they were much larger and it wasn’t until Queen Victoria showed her preference to the smaller animal that the modern Pomeranian can into wide acceptance. With a great range of acceptable colors, Poms are able to be fashion accessories as well as companion animals. Fiercely protective of their owners, these beautiful little dogs are often used as sentinel animals depended upon to sound an alarm at the first sign of danger.

Pomeranians have been seen on the leashes of society’s highest patrons as well as at the sides of working people around the world. These lovely dogs are loyal to their owners and would prefer to be at the side of their human rather than own their own. Smart and resourceful, Pomeranians are easy to train and respond really well to rewards.
